The 2019 Edition of the AgriNumA Symposium held in Senegal next April


Dakar, the capital of Senegal will house from 28 to 30 April 2019 the 2019 Edition of the Symposium digital agriculture in Africa (AgriNumA 2019).

After a first workshop in Montpellier in 2018, this symposium "digital agriculture in Africa" brings together academic actors, industrialists and civil society in Dakar. The event organized by CIRAD, LIRIMA and UMR TETIS and supported by #DigitAg.

Faced with a major food challenge, agriculture needs to increase its economic, environmental and social performance. New technologies are a powerful lever of the expected revolution. In order to promote the development and deployment of digital agriculture in France, Europe and the countries of the South, the convergences digital agriculture Institute #DigitAg proposes an interdisciplinary research project strongly geared towards the development and higher education.

In this context, the workshop "digital agriculture in Africa" organized by LIRIMA and UMR TETIS and supported by #DigitAg, INRIA and CIRAD brings together researchers who will present work at the heart of this scientific problem. In addition to the presentation of major scientific work and the development of innovative software, forward-looking discussions will be proposed during roundtables and "collaborations".

The Symposium "digital agriculture in Africa" presents scientific work as well as round tables and workshops to discuss: the benefits and conditions of interdisciplinary research to be conducted; the mutual benefits of a public/private partnership with major players and startups in the digital sector (telephone operators, software developers, industrial sensors..); the modalities for conducting a functional analysis of the demand of the actors in the sectors in terms of advice and services for agriculture which is related by a suitable digital mediation and the conditions necessary to put in place an action conducive to the development of innovation ecosystems in digital agriculture.

It should be noted that muse and INRIA, is backed by the 9th Conference on research in computer science and its applications (CNRIA), which is held on the same dates in Saint-Louis, Senegal at the Université Gaston Berger (UGB); Senegalese Association of researchers in computer science (ASCII). AgriNumA 2019 and #DigitAg will be presented on Friday, April 26, 2019.
