Towards a presidential water Council in Senegal

The President of the Republic, Macky Sall, took advantage of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday 24 July 2018 to announce the holding of a Presidential Council on water. This decision follows the water shortage that strikes several neighborhoods in Dakar and its suburbs.

According to the communiqué of the Government meeting, the head of State announced the "forthcoming Presidential Council on the situation and prospects for the development of the urban and rural hydraulics sector".

Also, indicates the same source, Macky Sall called for the "imperative activation of a standby and resilience system to shortages, despite the significant funding underway for a sustainable supply of water to urban and rural populations".

Finally, informs the communiqué, the President of the Republic asked "the Prime Minister to put in place, as soon as possible, an interdepartmental system for monitoring the sustainable securing of the normal supply of drinking water of populations ".
