Algeria is moving towards national reform through the use of alternative energies in the desiccation of fruits and vegetables. This reform aims at mastering techniques for the desiccation of fruits and vegetables through the use of alternative energies, through a series of meetings organized by the Ministry of higher education and scientific research to to consolidate the integration of the University of Sciences and technology Houari Boumediene (Usthb) of Algiers into the socio-economic environment.
The professor at the University of Sciences and technology Houari Boumediene also Director of the Centre for renewable energy development (CDER) suggested that this project "is part of the implementation of actions related to the food security, which is one of the Government's priorities, especially since the import bill for dried agricultural products has reached 250 million USD in recent years. Mr. Yassaa was speaking on the sidelines of the national symposium on fruit and vegetable desiccation, organized at the solar equipment development unit (UDEs).
Desiccation of fruits and vegetables allows "exploitation" of surplus production and its consumption outside the seasons
In the belief, this symposium is a series of meetings on several aspects related to the organisation of scientific research and technological development activities in the field of drying and preserving fruit and vegetables, and "developing a national benchmark" of appropriate processes, standards and techniques.
The participants, through the workshops, will look at the proposal of the means of valorization of usable scientific results and their availability to the industrialists and investors, the consultation on the experimental mastery and the design skills and means of realization.
The meeting held at the premises of the solar equipment development unit also combed the "preparation of a readable platform to develop the regulatory framework for the issuance of attestations and standardization , the guarantee of a regulated market in accordance with international quality and use criteria, with the development of software to facilitate the desiccation of fruit and vegetables, added Mr. Yassaa. Who says that the desiccation of fruits and vegetables allows "exploitation" of surplus production and its consumption outside the seasons, because this is one of the best food conservation processes.
A basis according to the production Protocol of various products will be put in place soon
During the speech, Hafid Aourag, Director General of scientific research and technological development at the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, spoke about the signing of 28 conventions between the structures of Research and economic operators in areas dealing with the food industry, health, water resources and industry.
It is a new participatory dynamic which will undergo an "important" evolution, in particular with the entry into service of a data platform encompassing all the innovations carried out by Algerian researchers and which is to be put to the available to economic operators and public authorities.
The project is part of a "broad" partnership programme with the National Chamber of Commerce and industry with a view to establishing a precise database that will capture economic operators and assist the Government in decision-making in this area.
"A basis according to the production Protocol of various products will be put in place soon, in accordance with scientific criteria covering 9 steps, from the idea to the realization and exploitation," concluded Mr. Aourag.
